Class 5N Cultural week

Firstly in 5N we have been learning about multiculturalism in Britain. We have been having fun doing different things like dancing to music from different cultures, bread tasting and learning about different cultures.
Secondly for the bread tasting, 5N had so much fun because most children in the class brought in different breads from their culture and we all tried the bread. It was amazing becauuse when we were trying the bread it felt like we were travelling to the countries where the bread came from.
Next we learned about India. We focussed on the story, The Wizard Punchkin and we all enjoyed it. We wrote an alternative ending for the story.
Lastly in PE, we learned a dance from india, called the stick dance. We had to partner up with somebody and Miss Nwichi showed us the dance. Then we had to copy what Miss Nwichi did. It was good learning the dance because we were learnig different things about India so it was fun when we leart a dance from India. That was our week in year 5. By Eleanor

VIKING VS STORY SETTINGS!!!

This week in year 5 we have been finishing our viking long boats. They look so scary that I would faint if I see them again. Also we have been writing story settings. We had to write similies and adjectives too. For example you are as sweet as a honey jar.

Anyway what is better? The fearsome vikings, or a good story setting? Thats the end of the blog folks BYE BYE!!!

Aztec headresses and viking longboats.

Are history topic is Aztecs this term , so we made Aztec headdresses! We used coloured card and foam.We also used shiny sequences but we were not allowed to use stars because they were not invented.Later we had our head measured and the straps was stapled on. If you would like to see them then you can see them at the exhibition next Wednesday.

Also, we finished our viking longboats.We painted them with brown paint, made and fixed a sail on and some people had time to make model magic sailors.They will be showed in the exhibition as well!!!!!!!!!!!

CAMPING!!! :)

Today in year 5 we are going to camp in the school field and we havent been camping yet so we wonder how fun it is and this blog is from BIRKAN AND ELLEE. We hope that its going to be lots of fun. OBVIOUSLY we are going to have a midnight FEAST! We're gonna have gummy bears, crisps, And more!!!

Camping Trip and Year 5 Memories

As some of you know, yr 5 are going to be having a camping trip on the glade field! We will be sleeping in tents and roasting marshmallows. The teachers have worked really hard organising this event and we will be playing loads of games as well. We will be sitting around a fire telling scary stories and singing songs. The following day we will be picked up at 7am and we have to arrive at 7pm.

Also this week, we have been making a DVD called "Year 5 Memories". Were we will be talking about are greatest memories in year 5 and we will be in are favourite spots in the school. Hopefully, you will be able to see it but we are not 100% sure.

Today, we have been trying out for the fastest girls and boys in our class. To determin who is the fastest to race 5H at sports day. We have 6 people who will be racing but we have 2 people off sick so we will have to re-race.

This week in year 5 we have been finishing our viking long boats and also been learning loads of french. Firstly we have been playing a game of SPLAT!!! Splat is a game when someone stick numbers on to the white board with blue-tack, the teacher says the numbers in french and the first person to splat the number with a fly swatter WINS!!!!

Since this is arts week, we have gone arts crazy!Our theme is "Under The Sea", we have been making fish tanks with paper and premium transparencies. Next we designed tropical fish, and we drew it on cardboard and cut it out.Then we had to tape newspaper scrunched up together and put kitchen paper with glue on it. The next step is to let it dry and paint. We also designed portholes and they had to be imaginative as we can.And today, we are going to be designing and making a 3D aquarium.
