Greek day.

In year 5 we had Greek day

We all came in with a cool Greek costume as part of our Greek topic. Firstly we did a Greek mythical creatures and God wordsearch, then we started to make warrior bracelets. We coloured the pictures on the bracelets, it took a very long time to finish them off. After we had to make our Greek sandals, and we made the sole out of foam, we used other materials to make the other parts of the sandals.

After playtime we watched a short video clip that was about Perseus killing Medusa. We also made Medusa`s head with coloured sugar paper. We had to fold the paper to spring shapes and stick them on.Then we drew a face on the snakes.
During the day we made a Greek salad in registration order. In the salad we had to put lettuce, tomatoes, olives and goat cheese. We also tasted the salad in little cups and 50/50 enjoyed it and disliked it.

After lunchtime we did a modern Greek olympics which included warm ups, relay races and hats and cups.As hats had more pupils than cups, they won 2 times, suprisingly cups won once in the end.

Thats what we did on Greek day. Year 5 really enjoyed our day.

Condensation

In Science this week Year 5 have been learning about condensation. We did an experiment using warm water in a cup covered with clingfilm, on the top of which we added two cubes of ice.

What happened is that the heated water evaporated into steam. This rose up to the clingfilm where the ice cooled it and turned it back into water droplets. ie Condensation - The cooling of a gas in order to turn it back into a liquid.

The Best Teachers

Hi,
have you heard about the great teachers that we have in our year group?
One has just come back from China and has told us many great stories of her trip, we are looking forward to hearing even more of this.
